Why am I special?

I’m not… Please don’t tell my mom.

On a serious note, I’m just a dude who is very obsessed with staying in shape. For both physical and mental health. I have been both the skinny, and the fat kid. I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of both fat AND skinny jokes. So when I say I understand… I understand.

Once I was old enough, I became a first responder. During that part of my life, I was exposed to things that police dramas may or may not cover. As a result, my threshold for handling stress and anxiety became a bit lower than many others. Because of it, I had to read, research, and experiment with ways to keep pushing myself without burning out so quickly. I would follow the same workouts and programs as my buddies, only to discover that the phrase “Your results may vary” is thrown around for a reason. I was constantly burned out.

I learned that most trainers and coaches, unless they shared similar life experiences, have a hard time dealing with us. They have a hard time understanding why energy levels can fluctuate so wildly even when sleep, nutrition, and exercise are all where they need to be. It isn’t because they are dumb or mean. It’s because they don’t understand the inner workings of a brain that has seen some shit.

I’ll never sell you a quick solution. Hell, most of the time I won’t try to sell you anything. What I CAN provide is the path to steady progress for the goals you set. I will entertain realistic expectations and do everything I can to adjust your program to match your existing lifestyle.

After all, the best plan is the one that will be followed. I can’t expect someone to adhere to a plan they hate.
